HP Bets Big on India: Plans 100% Local PC Manufacturing in 3–5 Years

HP Bets Big on India: Plans 100% Local PC Manufacturing in 3–5 Years

Global technology giant HP has announced plans to manufacture all personal computers sold in India locally within the next three to five years, marking a significant boost to the country’s electronics manufacturing ambitions under the government’s Make in India initiative.

HP’s Chief Executive Officer Enrique Lores, speaking during a recent visit to India, said the company is committed to deepening its presence in the country by not only meeting domestic demand through local production but also by turning India into an export hub for PCs in the future.

Our goal is that in three to five years, every PC we sell in India will be manufactured in IndiaLores said, adding that the company is also preparing to export India-made devices to global markets.

Rising Demand for AI PCs

The announcement comes at a time when demand for AI-enabled PCs is surging. According to HP, nearly 25% of its shipments in India over the past three quarters were AI-powered PCs, a sharp increase from just 5% six months ago. The company expects this trend to accelerate as artificial intelligence becomes a standard feature in personal computing.

Strategic Shift Amid Global Supply Chain Realignment

HP’s move reflects broader shifts in global supply chains, as technology companies diversify manufacturing away from China amid geopolitical tensions. Lores noted that the world is increasingly splitting into two technology ecosystems—one led by China and another by the West—making India a strategically vital market and production base.

Alignment with India’s Industrial Policy

The decision aligns with India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware, which offers financial incentives to companies that expand local manufacturing. India has already attracted major investments from smartphone makers like Apple, and HP’s commitment signals a similar trajectory for the PC industry.

Industry analysts say the move could:
  • Create thousands of jobs in electronics manufacturing.
  • Reduce India’s dependence on imports.
  • Lower costs for consumers by cutting duties and logistics expenses.
  • Position India as a global hub for AI-driven computing devices.

HP’s Market Position in India

HP currently leads the Indian PC market, with strong demand from enterprises, small businesses, and consumers in smaller towns. By localizing production, the company aims to strengthen its supply chain resilience and expand its reach into emerging markets within India.

Looking Ahead

HP expects the next five years to bring new device categories and ambient AI experiences, reshaping how PCs are designed and used. With India at the center of its strategy, the company is betting that local manufacturing will not only serve domestic needs but also make the country a key node in the global technology supply chain.

Intel Unveils Technical Breakthroughs with Advancements in Moore's Law and Other Industry Firsts

Intel Unveils Technical Breakthroughs with Advancements in Moore's Law and Other Industry Firsts

At the 2023 IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM), Intel unveiled technical breakthroughs wherein Intel researchers showcased advancements in 3D stacked CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) transistors combined with backside power and direct backside contacts. Intel also reported on scaling paths for recent R&D breakthroughs for backside power delivery, such as backside contacts, and it was the first to demonstrate successful large-scale 3D monolithic integration of silicon transistors with gallium nitride (GaN) transistors on the same 300 millimeter (mm) wafer, rather than on package.

Moore's Law is an observation that the number of transistors in a computer chip doubles every two years or so. As the number of transistors increases, so does processing power. The law also states that, as the number of transistors increases, the cost per transistor falls.

Intel announced that it is working to extend Moore’s Law to a trillion transistors on a package by 2030.

Sanjay Natarajan, Intel senior vice president and general manager of Components Research, said, "As we enter the Angstrom Era and look beyond five nodes in four years, continued innovation is more critical than ever. At IEDM 2023, Intel showcases its progress with research advancements that fuel Moore’s Law, underscoring our ability to bring leading-edge technologies that enable further scaling and efficient power delivery for the next generation of mobile computing."

Why It Matters: Transistor scaling and backside power are key to helping meet the exponentially increasing demand for more powerful computing. Year after year, Intel meets this computing demand, demonstrating that its innovations will continue to fuel the semiconductor industry and remain the cornerstone of Moore’s Law. Intel’s Components Research group consistently pushes the boundaries of engineering by stacking transistors, taking backside power to the next level to enable more transistor scaling and improved performance, as well as demonstrating that transistors made of different materials can be integrated on the same wafer.

Intel’s latest transistor research presented at IEDM 2023 shows an industry first — the ability to vertically stack complementary field effect transistors (CFET) at a scaled gate pitch down to 60 nanometers (nm). This allows area efficiency and performance benefits by stacking transistors. It is also combined with backside power and direct backside contacts. It underscores Intel’s leadership in gate-all-around transistors and showcases the company’s ability to innovate beyond RibbonFET, putting it ahead of the competition.

Intel goes beyond five nodes in four years and identifies key R&D areas needed to continue transistor scaling with backside power delivery:
  • PowerVia will be manufacturing-ready in 2024, which will be the first implementation of backside power delivery.
Backside power delivery refers to the technique of routing power supply lines on the backside of a semiconductor chip or integrated circuit (IC) instead of the traditional frontside. This approach increases logic density and improves power and performance.

At IEDM 2023, Components Research identified paths to extend and scale backside power delivery beyond PowerVia, and the key process advances required to enable them. In addition, this work also highlighted the use of backside contacts and other novel vertical interconnects to enable area-efficient device stacking.

Intel is first to successfully integrate silicon transistors with GaN transistors on the same 300 mm wafer and demonstrate it performs well:
  • At IEDM 2022, Intel focused on performance enhancements and building a viable path to 300 mm GaN-on-silicon wafers. This year, the company is making advancements in process integration of silicon and GaN. Intel has now successfully demonstrated a high-performance, large-scale integrated circuit solution – called “DrGaN” – for power delivery. Intel researchers are the first to show that this technology performs well and can potentially enable power delivery solutions to keep pace with the power density and efficiency demands of future computing.
Intel advances R&D in the 2D transistor space for future Moore’s Law scaling:
  • Transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) 2D channel materials offer a unique opportunity for scaled transistor physical gate length below 10nm. At IEDM 2023, Intel will demonstrate prototypes of high-mobility TMD transistors for both NMOS (n-channel metal oxide semiconductor) and PMOS (p-channel metal oxide semiconductor), the key components of CMOS. Intel will also present the world’s first gate-all-around (GAA) 2D TMD PMOS transistor, and the world’s first 2D PMOS transistor fabricated on a 300 mm wafer.

Residential Proxies: Benefits and Use Cases

Proxy servers are among the most popular tools providing a smoother working process because they are universal and pretty easy to use. They allow for better security, more access to various sources, and many other benefits. At the same time, they allow for saving connection speed and bandwidth if properly used. What can proxies be used for, and why buy residential IP proxy for business?

Residential Proxies: Benefits and Use Cases

Proxy servers – the principle of work

Proxy servers present themselves as mediators in relations between users and hosts. They help provide security, anonymity, and better access to sources despite various restrictions – and, thus, make the work process less troublesome. They also offer great opportunities to control and enhance team management without breaching an employee’s personal space.

In other words, they are versatile tools available for varied purposes, from very specific to very general. However, each server needs to be used separately for each service, so you cannot buy a single option and hope it will perform as several ones. That’s why people divide proxies into types according to various criteria.

How to distinguish proxies?

Proxies are distinguished depending on who uses them, what for, and how. Division by the source of IPs is one of the principal ones to understand the differences in pricing plans as long as servers’ capability. Thus, people know:
  • database proxy IPs – random addresses created by a server to allow people to hide their IPs from being detected and blocked;
  • mobile proxies – real IPs from mobile devices (serve to less range of purposes but are still essential in particular situations);
  • residential proxy addresses – real IPs assigned to computers of people who use Internet Services (the best option for most tasks that require user imitation).
The last option has the broadest usage and is the most desired for many data-collection tasks.

Another classification is a division into private and shared proxies. Privates are also called “dedicated” IPs which means they belong to only one user that can control access to it. Respectively, shared proxies mean the opposite – they are publicly available to anyone who bought the right to access them or gained this opportunity in another way. It is commonly accepted that private proxies are better than shared ones because they allow for more reliable protection and confidence. Both -- shared and private proxies can be divided into a database, mobile, and residential.

Residential proxy servers

This type of proxy server is more reliable from the point of natural behavior imitation. That’s why it is more convenient in most marketing research tasks like SEO monitoring or data logging.

Benefits

More detailed information about the benefits of residential proxies reveals itself as you look at the underlying feature of this type of proxy. It provides:
  • more opportunities for data collection related to potential customer opinion;
  • better conditions for collecting information on competitors’ websites;
  • enhanced “resistance” against observation tools and bots that block IPs that act suspiciously;
  • more reliability in IP availability – as residential IPs are based on real users’ servers.
Regarding these opportunities, residential servers give considerably greater scope than the other types provide.

Use examples

To see the benefits of residential proxies in action, you can take any sphere of business implementation:
  • complex market research – in general, residential IPs are convenient for most tasks, and for some specific questions, you may need to use mobile servers;
  • verifying how geo-targeted advertising works – choosing varied locations helps reveal where the ads are displayed wrongly and how well they work;
  • the same functionality may help you discover if your website is working well for various locations – it is particularly significant if you offer your services worldwide;
  • gathering SEO data – discovering the rates for diverse territories helps fix your strategy and focus on problematic issues that require particular attention;
  • revealing counterfeits and, thus, protecting your business, reputation, profits, and community.
In other words, residential IPs are versatile for all types of marketing investigation. Moreover, such a complex view may aid you with forming future approaches to developing a business and opening new branches.

SOAX provider is included in the top list of companies that offer the best range of services on the market. Unlike well-known and long-established companies that all of us know, SOAX is relatively new to the proxy market but during the last couple of years, the company improved significantly its service variety and quality. Such sources as Proxyway and Trustpilot recognized SOAX’s rapid development and top service, which you can see in their rates.

While choosing a proxy type and provider, you should remember the fundamental task you need to deal with. It can give you a hint on what proxy services you need to pay for and which company offers the best deal. Use SOAX opportunities for your benefit and see the quality!

Sustainable Computer Chip Made Using Mushroom Skin is Easily Recyclable

Sustainable Computer Chip Made Using Mushroom Skin is Easily Recyclable

In a "global first" that could result in more sustainable electronics, Scientists at Johannes Kepler University, Austria have dubbed the new innovative substance "MycelioTronics" from mushroom skin, which could help eliminate electronic waste and offer a new platform for conformable and wearable electronics, among other uses.

The mushroom skins only need waste wood to grow. Using mushroom skin to make the base of computer chips and batteries would make them easier to recycle.

All electronic circuits, which consist of conducting metals, need to sit in an insulating and cooling base called a substrate. In almost every computing chip, this substrate is made from unrecyclable plastic polymers, which are often thrown away at the end of a chip's life. This contributes to the 50 million tonnes of electronic waste that is produced each year

"The substrate itself is the most difficult to recycle," says Martin Kaltenbrunner at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. "It's also the largest part of the electronics and has the lowest value, so if you have certain chips on it that actually have a high value, you might want to recycle them."

In an accidental scientific discovery, scientists discovered that in order to protect itself from pathogens and other fungi, glossy paint fungus forms a closed mycelium skin on the surface of its growing medium. It turns out that this skin can be easily removed then processed further.

The skins are created using the saprophytic fungus Ganoderma lucidum, a medicinal mushroom which grows naturally on dead hardwood trees. The electronic circuits are deposited on the skin using physical vapor deposition of thin metal that is then ablated by laser. The resulting electronic circuit has high thermal stability and can withstand thousands of bending cycles.

Kaltenbrunner and his colleagues have now tried using skin from the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum to act as a biodegradable electronic substrate.

The resulted material from mushroom skin is robust, flexible, and has heat resistant properties. The mushroom skin is  surprisingly heat-resistant, able to withstand temperatures of up to 250°C. This is an important factor when building circuits.

This could potentially become a polymer substitute for polymers currently used in making flexible electronic components.

Ethereum Co-founder To Bring Blockchain Computers To Wider Audience

Ethereum Co-founder To Bring Blockchain Computers To Wider Audience

Earlier this week, Anthony Di Iorio, who is Co-founder of Ethereum and Founder/CEO of Decentral, revealed his new project to the world — Andiami — that blends game theory with cutting-edge hardware to bring blockchain computers to a wider audience.

This blockchain computers are devices called 'Cubes' , which Anthony describes as Xbox-like devices, will be fundamental to solving what he believes are the two major problems impeding Web3: The paradox of centralized decentralization and the persistence of Web2 business models, said a press release

Cube
Anthony Di Iorio with the 'Cube'

You can’t have a user-controlled internet if the user doesn’t have their own server, ” says Anthony.

Cubes, a custom blockchain computers, will be a Plug-and-play device similar to gaming consoles. Cubes function as both full nodes and as an individual's personal digital server. Through custom blockchain infrastructure designed for scalability, interoperability, reliability, and usablity, Cube hardware runs and contains indexed blockchain data that connects individuals directly to decentralized networks, elimhe need for trusted third-party intermediaries.

The Cubes and its accompanying suites will be sold on a sliding scale from $300 to $5,000 to low-income participants, as part of Di Iorio’s plan to weed out venture capitalists, who he says were major contributors. centralization in the blockchain domain.

In addition to this, an another core element of Andiami is a new communication protocol for peer-to-peer (P2P) node-sharing. This protocol will connect Andiami Cubes over the internet, allowing users to distribute blockchain data and broadcast new transactions in a decentralized manner. The protocol will reward Cube owners with Digital Life Tokens for hosting and sharing their node services and blockchain data with others on the network.

Furthermore, each Andiami product is a Non-Fungible Phygital (NFP), a coin termed by Anthony Di Iorio. "Phygital" is the existing concept of using technology to bridge the digital and physical worlds in order to provide unique interactive experiences. Andiami NFPs are physical items that are unique to each individual. Each NFP has an authentication chip baked into its manufacturing process to prove its authenticity and ownership.

Project Andiami is planned to roll out in an additional four phases over the next three years.

Break Away from the Shackles of "Line"

The mouse is necessary when using a computer. A suitable mouse can improve work efficiency. It will also make yourself happy. The mouse is an essential device for both daily work and casual games. What do we need to pay attention to when choosing a mouse? The following examples can provide some references.

In general case, a mouse has at least two buttons. They are left and right buttons. Most operating systems assign the left button to the primary operations. For example, we use the left button to select objects and click items on the screen. The right button is for the secondary operations, such as opening a menu. There are exceptions, of course. Some of them may have only one button. They will use various techniques to imitate the right mouse button as needed.

Often, the mouse has more function buttons. It covers other buttons at the top and side buttons for accessing special actions. It also includes scrollers for scrolling and performing other actions. In many cases, a multi-button mouse has a corresponding software. Via it, you can customize and remap buttons and wheels. Therefore, you can achieve a variety of personal functions. Selecting the mouse according to the proper buttons and rollers can improve the work efficiency and use experience. If you are using complex applications, a mouse with various buttons that can be mapped to various functions may be more helpful.

Choose a wired mouse or a wireless one? When buying a computer, there will be a wired mouse with it. The response speed of a wired mouse is higher than that of a wireless one. If you have high demand on response speed, do not need to consider a wireless mouse. People divide Wireless mouse into 2.4 G Mouse and Bluetooth Mouse. The 2.4 G Mouse needs additional accessories to receive signals. At this point, it has similar troubles with wired mice. If you want freer use, Bluetooth Mouse is the best choice.

The Bluetooth Mouse price on the market is not high. Compared with the 2.4 GHz Wireless Mouse, you can use it across platforms. Both Windows and MAC systems are compatible. The advantage of Bluetooth Mouse is that it needs no receiver for connection. Wireless Mouse also has high performance products with 16000 DPI and 1000 Hz feedback rate. Its anti-jamming capability has been at a level equivalent to that of wired mouse. It is enough for daily and work use.

A suitable mouse will improve our work efficiency. It can even make us feel happy at work. Get rid of the shackles of the line, our work will be more relaxed. So, Bluetooth Mouse is a great office tool.

It's finally here! After months of anticipation and delay regarding the fate of the project, the BBC finally launched its Micro:bit programmable computer.

Aimed at encouraging the children all around the world to become more creative with technology and learn coding, BBC has decided to jet start the project by delivering about a million of these programmable computers to every child in year 7 (around 12 years old) across Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England absolutely free of cost.

One can use your BBC micro:bit for all sorts of cool creations, from robots to musical instruments – the possibilities are endless. The micro:bit is a handheld, fully programmable computer being given free to every Year 7 or equivalent child across the UK. It’s 70 times smaller and 18 times faster than the original BBC Micro computers used in schools in the early 1980s.

Once the rollout is successfully done and each of the kids has received their own Micro:bit programmable computer, the kids will be allowed to keep them and use them through their entire remaining tenure at school.

To make it easier for the kids to understand and get them more interested in programming, BBC has complimented the computers with configurable buttons, 25 LEDs, an accelerometer, compass, Bluetooth, and connections so the computer can be easily hooked to more sensors. According to experts, the Micro Bit can be used with devices like Arduino, Kano and Raspberry Pi to create devices like smartwatches and fitness trackers etc.

BBC is determined to make the project a success and hence it will also be investing the money it earns from its commercial sales into project so as to encourage more and more people to come forward and learn the art of coding. The company has made a strategical decision to open-source the Micro Bit's hardware and also most of its software.

A price for the device hasn't been announced by the company yet but it is soon expected to be unveiled when the device is available at retailers after the free rollout to the kids is completed.
