Sweet Poison: Detergent-Laced Ice Cream & Bone-Weakening Drinks Exposed

Sweet Poison: Detergent-Laced Ice Cream & Bone-Weakening Drinks Exposed

An alarming discovery has raised serious concerns about food safety in Karnataka. Recent inspections by the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department flagged 97 out of 220 local ice cream and cool drink manufacturing units for selling substandard products under unhygienic conditions.

Some manufacturers were found using detergent powder in ice cream to create a creamier texture, while phosphoric acid—a chemical known to weaken bones—was detected in cool drinks to enhance fizz. Additionally, synthetic milk made from detergent, urea, and starch was being used as a cost-cutting measures.

Authorities have imposed fines and issued notices to violators, emphasizing the urgency of maintaining hygiene and quality standards in the food industry. This crackdown is part of a broader effort to ensure food safety, especially for children, who are the primary consumers of these products.

It’s unsettling to think about the extent of food adulteration.

The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has issued notices and fines to these manufacturers for violating food safety standards.

Officials have assured more surprise inspections in the coming months to prevent food adulteration. They’ve also set up dedicated helplines — 1967 — for consumers to report suspicious products, ensuring swift action against violators.

With summer vacations in full swing, children are more likely to consume ice creams and cool drinks—making parental vigilance crucial. Experts recommend checking product labels, avoiding items with unusual taste or texture, and opting for trusted brands over unregulated local vendors.

Authorities are also enhancing laboratory testing capacities to speed up food sample analysis, aiming for stricter enforcement of safety regulations.

If You are in Karnataka, you can report food safety violations in Karnataka through the Public Grievance Redressal System [here]. The Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs also provides contact details for consumer complaints [here].

MRI Scans Could Leave Toxic Traces in Your Body, Scientists Warn!

MRI Scans Could Leave Toxic Traces in Your Body, Scientists Warn!

A contrast MRI is a type of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan that uses a special dye to improve the visibility of tissues, organs, and blood vessels. This contrast agent —often containing gadolinium—is injected into the bloodstream, making certain areas stand out more clearly in the images.

Scientists have discovered a potential link between MRI contrast dye and toxic material buildup in the body. Researchers at the University of New Mexico (UNM) found that oxalic acid, a molecule present in foods like spinach, chocolate, and almonds, may interact with gadolinium, the heavy metal used in MRI contrast agents. This interaction could lead to the formation of harmful nanoparticles that infiltrate organs.

In a new paper published in the journal Magnetic Resonance Imaging, a team led by Brent Wagner, MD, professor in the Department of Internal Medicine in the UNM School of Medicine, sought to explain the formation of the nanoparticles, which have been associated with serious health problems in the kidneys and other organs.

While most patients experience no adverse effects, some have reported reactions ranging from mild swelling and headaches to more severe conditions like nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, which can cause skin thickening and organ damage. The findings suggest that individuals undergoing MRI scans with contrast might want to avoid Vitamin C supplements, as they can increase oxalic acid levels.

This discovery could lead to new safety recommendations for MRI procedures.

How Gadolinium is used in MRI scans?

Gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) are used in MRI scans to enhance the visibility of soft tissues. Gadolinium is a heavy metal with unique magnetic properties, making it ideal for MRI imaging. However, because raw gadolinium is toxic, it’s chemically bonded to molecules (called chelators) to make it safe for medical use.

How it Works:
  1. Injection – The contrast agent is injected into the bloodstream, usually through an IV.
  2. Magnetic Interaction – Gadolinium influences the magnetic fields used in MRI, causing tissues with high blood flow (like tumors or inflamed areas) to appear brighter.
  3. Better Imaging – This enhancement helps doctors differentiate between normal and abnormal tissues, making it easier to detect brain disorders, cancer, and vascular diseases.
Despite its benefits, there has been concern over gadolinium retention in the body, especially in patients with kidney issues. Research continues into safer alternatives and better ways to remove any lingering traces.

The worst disease caused by MRI contrast agents is nephrogenic systemic fibrosis,” said Professor Brent Wagner. “People have succumbed after just a single dose.” The condition can cause a thickening and hardening of the skin, heart and lungs and cause painful contracture of the joints."

The medical community has mixed reactions to MRI contrast agents, particularly those containing gadolinium. While they are widely used to enhance imaging, concerns have grown over potential side effects and long-term retention in the body.

Scientists are exploring safer alternatives and ways to minimize gadolinium retention in the body.

Specific Foods Rich In Vitamin D According to Ayurveda

Specific Foods Rich In Vitamin D According to Ayurveda

Ayurveda emphasizes natural sources of nourishment, and while it doesn’t explicitly categorize foods by vitamin content, it recognizes certain foods that support bone health, vitality, and overall strength —which aligns with modern understanding of vitamin D-rich foods.

Here are some Ayurvedic-recommended foods that naturally contain vitamin D or enhance its absorption:
  • Sun-exposed mushrooms – Mushrooms, especially those exposed to sunlight, are known to contain vitamin D2.
  • Ghee (clarified butter) – A staple in Ayurveda, ghee is believed to enhance nutrient absorption and contains small amounts of vitamin D.
  • Milk and dairy products – Traditionally valued for their ability to nourish the body, milk, butter, and cheese contain vitamin D.
  • Egg yolks – Considered a sattvic food in moderation, egg yolks provide vitamin D and support bone health.
  • Fatty fish (like salmon, tuna, and sardines) – Though not strictly Ayurvedic, fish is recognized for its ability to strengthen the body and provide essential nutrients.
  • Sesame seeds – While not a direct source of vitamin D, sesame seeds are rich in calcium and help support bone strength.
  • Cod liver oil – Used in traditional remedies, cod liver oil is one of the richest sources of vitamin D.
  • Spinach and leafy greens – While not high in vitamin D, they support calcium absorption, which works in synergy with vitamin D.
Additionally, Ayurveda emphasizes sun exposure as a crucial factor in maintaining health, as sunlight helps the body synthesize vitamin D naturally. Ayurvedic therapies like oil massages (Abhyanga) and steam treatments are also believed to enhance the skin’s ability to absorb sunlight effectively.

Ayurveda integrates the above foods mentioned with practices into daily routines with a holistic approach, ensuring that the body absorbs and utilizes nutrients effectively.

Ways to Incorporate Vitamin D-Rich Foods in Ayurvedic Routine
  1. Morning Rituals & Sun Exposure:
    1. Start your day with Surya Namaskar (sun salutation), which enhances circulation and primes your body to absorb sunlight.
    2. Spend at least 15–30 minutes in direct sunlight, preferably during the early morning or late afternoon hours.
  2. Dietary Integration:
    1. Ghee-Infused Meals: Include ghee in your diet—mixing it into dal, rice, or warm milk improves digestion and nutrient assimilation.
    2. Milk and Dairy-based Preparations: Enjoy turmeric milk (golden milk) at night, or have fresh homemade paneer to nourish your system.
    3. Sun-Dried Mushrooms & Leafy Greens: Add mushrooms to soups or sauté them lightly. Leafy greens like spinach and moringa pair well with sesame seeds, further aiding calcium absorption.
    4. Eggs & Fatty Fish (if included in your diet): Eggs can be prepared with Ayurvedic spices like cumin and turmeric for better digestion. Fish can be balanced with cooling herbs like coriander to support digestive fire.
  3. Ayurvedic Therapies for Nutrient Absorption:
    1. Abhyanga (Oil Massage): Massaging the skin with warm sesame or coconut oil helps detoxify and enhances skin health, optimizing sunlight absorption.
    2. Panchakarma Detox: Occasional Ayurvedic cleansing therapies like Virechana (purgation therapy) support digestive strength, improving overall nutrient assimilation.
    3. Herbal Infusions: Ayurvedic herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari help balance metabolism, ensuring essential nutrients are absorbed well.
Experts also highlight that urbanization, pollution, and indoor lifestyles contribute to widespread vitamin D deficiency in India
Addressing these factors through natural exposure, dietary balance, and Ayurvedic therapies can help restore optimal levels.

How Addiction Affects Mental Health: The Connection

How Addiction Affects Mental Health: The Connection

Addiction is becoming more and more of a problem in the UK, and it’s creating a vicious cycle with mental health issues. We’re living in a society where the likes of alcohol and drug abuse are spiking, while mental health conditions among people are also growing.

What people often don’t realise is the two are very much interlinked too, with many people struggling with their mental health turning to drink or drugs to cope, but in fact that can just make matters worse.

Visit any alcohol and drug rehab and you’ll see just how linked they are and understanding that can be crucial in not only helping yourself, but also friends, family, colleagues or anyone else you know who may be struggling.

The Link Between Addiction and Mental Health

What’s important to note is that addiction is a chronic disease that is often lived with alongside mental health disorders, with many people living with addiction also struggling with the likes of depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder.

One of the main reasons for this is the impact of different substances on the brain and its chemistry. Essentially, drugs and alcohol alter our neurotransmitters and affect our mood cognitive functioning and behaviour, which over time can cause imbalances that lead to worsening mental health.

As we’ve mentioned, people with mental health disorders will often turn to drugs or alcohol as a way of self-medicating, which may provide a temporary relief, but will exacerbate conditions in the long run.

How Addiction Contributes to Mental Health Disorders

When it comes to connecting the two, addiction can contribute to and worsen several mental health disorders, which include:

Depression

Most commonly, people turn to substances to provide relief from symptoms of depression, but it can deepen sadness, hopelessness and isolation in the long run. That’s because substances can interfere with dopamine and serotonin levels, both of which are neurotransmitters responsible for regulating our mood.

Anxiety Disorders

People often turn to alcohol or drugs like cocaine and methamphetamine to get the euphoric buzz or increased confidence they provide, but long term usage can significantly heighten anxiety disorders and lead to the likes of paranoia, and panic attacks.

This happens during the withdrawal phases, which can create a potentially life-threatening cycle of addiction, where people turn again and again to substances, unable to live without them.

Psychosis and Schizophrenia

Some substances, such as cannabis, methamphetamine and hallucinogens have even been found to heighten psychotic episodes and increase the risk of developing conditions like schizophrenia, especially in those that have a genetic predisposition to the disorder.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Unfortunately, those that have suffered trauma in their life often turn to drugs or alcohol as a way to cope with the difficulties they are going through and that can impair cognitive functioning and worsen the likes of flashbacks, nightmares and emotional instability, particularly during periods where not under the influence of substances.

The Cycle of Addiction and Mental Health Struggles

Unfortunately, what too many people aren’t aware of is that addiction and mental health disorders are so interlinked, often creating a cycle that’s so difficult to break. Mental health problems can drive people to seek relief in substances, but as a result this only exacerbates issues in the long run.

Meanwhile, those who are drinking more, taking drugs more are more likely to see mental health issues come to the surface, heightening the likes of anxiety and paranoia.

One major problem is the stigma around seeking help for both problems. Many fear that they will be judged or discriminated against for seeking help, essentially seeing people suffer in silence and further deepen their dependence on substances, when help and finding healthier coping mechanisms is really what they need.

Treatment and Recovery

Addressing both addiction and mental health conditions is so important for an effective recovery and, thankfully, the stigma around that is reducing as more people talk about their conditions and get the help they need.

There are many ways in which people can get help and ensure they get their life back on track, so if you or someone you know is struggling, here are some options to get lives back on track.

Detoxification and Medication

Medical supervision during detoxification can help manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce the risk of relapse. In some cases, medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, or mood stabilisers may be necessary to manage co-occurring mental health conditions.

Therapy and Counselling

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and other counselling methods can help individuals address the underlying causes of their addiction and develop coping mechanisms to manage their mental health.

Support Groups

Peer support programmes such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) provide a sense of community and encouragement for those in recovery.

Lifestyle Changes

Incorporating healthy habits such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, mindfulness practices, and social engagement can significantly improve mental well-being and reduce the likelihood of relapse

Imported Medical Gloves Violate Every Safety Norm in the Book Says IRGMA, Files Complain to DGCA

Imported Medical Gloves Violate Every Safety Norm in the Book Says IRGMA, Files Complain to DGCA

The Indian Rubber Gloves Manufacturers Association (IRGMA) has intensified its continuous fight against prohibited medical gloves which come into India through extensive unlawful import channels and distribution activity. The unsafe practices endanger healthcare providers as well as patients and their caregivers while making it impossible for the sector to operate in a fair, regulated market environment.

In a complaint to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), IRGMA has cited four major importers of medical gloves that are violently flouting safety norms, mislabelling their products, and evading all norms under the Medical Device Rules, 2017 and the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. These violations include importing expired and otherwise mislabelled gloves, repackaging of gloves in unhygienic conditions, as well as conferring inaccurate certification, placing in jeopardy the safety associated with critical medical procedures, including those relating to radiation and chemotherapy.

Mr. Vikas Anand, spokesperson for IRGMA said,
These unsafe medical gloves are being allowed into the Indian market due to complete lack of enforcement. IRGMA has provided indisputable proof of these violations to the relevant authorities and demands immediate action. If left unchecked, the sale of substandard gloves will continue to endanger lives while simultaneously crippling compliant domestic manufacturers who adhere to stringent quality norms. We call upon all stakeholders - the Government, healthcare institutions, and the policymakers to take immediate remedial action in response to these violations.

IRGMA’s findings have revealed a disturbing pattern of malpractice, raising serious concerns about the integrity of India’s medical supply chain:
  • Expired gloves are being repackaged in unhygienic conditions, exposing users to significant health risks
  • Many imported gloves contain 18-20 hazardous chemicals, making them unsuitable for chemotherapy and radiation therapy
  • Companies are falsely leveraging CE and ISO 13485 certifications to mislead buyers on product quality
  • Importers are engaging in large-scale tax evasion by under-invoicing shipments and misrepresenting import values, causing substantial revenue losses to the government
  • Bulk shipments of medical gloves are transported in non-sterile sugar bags, violating essential hygiene and import regulations
  • Foreign suppliers are exploiting loopholes in the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to flood India with rejected, low-quality gloves, severely impacting MSMEs in the organized sector.
The widespread import of inferior quality gloves has caused two major problems that harm both public health security and local glove manufacturing stability. According to IRGMA data, substandard exports valued between ₹1 million and ₹6.6 million originating from Malaysia and the USA persist to enter Indian markets while evading essential regulatory conventions. Such importers have consistently failed to adhere to packaging regulations, display of MRP and country-of-origin, resulting in severe revenue losses under GST through measures of under-invoicing and tax evasion. Furthermore, the loophole of 0% import duty under the ASEAN FTA has resulted in noncompliance to virtually flood the Indian market with rejected gloves, which unequivocally harms the MSMEs upholding stringent quality requirements in India.

The IRGMA has demanded prompt regulatory intervention to ensure compliance under MDR 2017 along with the CDSCO Gazette Notification. The organization demands strict consequences through blacklisting and heavy fines for non-compliant companies that participate in illegal trading activities together with an instant ban on substandard medical gloves used in healthcare facilities. Additionally, IRGMA stresses the need for mandatory declarations of MRP, country of origin, and certification details to enhance transparency and consumer safety. To protect the organized sector from unfair competition, the Association insists on closing the FTA loophole that allows rejected gloves to flood the Indian market.

IRGMA remains committed to ensuring that only high-quality, safe medical gloves are available in the Indian marketplace. The Association continues to work closely with regulatory authorities, relentlessly monitoring violations, and advocating for stricter enforcement to protect both healthcare workers and the integrity of India’s medical device industry.

False Science: When Harvard Scientists Took Bribe To Hide Truth About Sugar

False Science: When Harvard Scientists Took Bribe To Hide Truth About Sugar

There was a significant controversy involving Harvard scientists and the sugar industry back in the 1960s. Researchers at Harvard were paid/bribed by the Sugar Research Foundation (now known as the Sugar Association) to produce studies that downplayed the role of sugar in coronary heart disease and instead pointed to fat and cholesterol as the main culprits.

This was revealed through newly uncovered documents that showed the sugar industry's involvement in shaping public understanding of nutrition.

By the time the truth came out in 2016, their deception had fueled one of America's deadliest health crises.

False Science: When Harvard Scientists Took Bribe To Hide Truth About Sugar
Dr. Cristin Kearns discovered papers showing that the sugar industry funded seminal research downplaying the role of sugar in heart disease. [Image - Statnews.com]

The revelation about the sugar industry's influence on scientific research had significant implications for public health. The manipulation of research in the 1960s contributed to decades of misguided dietary guidelines that prioritized reducing fat intake over sugar consumption. This shift in focus played a role in the rise of sugar-laden processed foods and beverages, which have been linked to the increasing prevalence of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

The long-term impact of these skewed dietary recommendations has been substantial, highlighting the importance of transparency and integrity in scientific research. It's a stark reminder of the potential consequences when industry interests interfere with public health information.

US dietary guidelines pushed sugar- loaded "low-fat" foods for decades based on false science.

False Science: When Harvard Scientists Took Bribe To Hide Truth About Sugar

The misguided dietary guidelines, influenced by the sugar industry's funding, led to the promotion of low-fat, high-sugar foods for decades. This focus on reducing fat intake while ignoring the dangers of excessive sugar consumption had far-reaching consequences on public health.

Many "low-fat" products were marketed as healthy options, even though they were often loaded with added sugars to improve taste. This contributed to a significant increase in sugar consumption, which has been linked to various health issues such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

The controversy surrounding these guidelines highlights the importance of independent and unbiased scientific research in shaping public health policies. It also underscores the need for continuous evaluation and updating of dietary recommendations based on the latest, most accurate evidence.

This whole episode serves as a cautionary tale about the potential dangers of allowing industry interests to influence public health information. How do you think we can ensure the integrity of scientific research and dietary guidelines moving forward?, Comment below.

It's somewhat troubling example of how industry funding can influence scientific research and public health recommendations.

All Indian Salt and Sugar Brands, Packaged or Unpackaged, Contain Micro Plastics - Study

All Indian Salt and Sugar Brands, Packaged or Unpackaged, Contain Micro Plastics - Study

A recent study by the environmental research organization Toxics Link revealed that all tested Indian salt and sugar brands, whether packaged or unpackaged, contain microplastics.

The study, titled "Microplastics in Salt and Sugar" and conducted by the environmental research organisation Toxics Link, examined 10 varieties of salt-as well as five varieties of sugar, procured from both online and local markets.

The findings disclosed the presence of microplastics in all tested samples of salt and sugar, manifesting in various forms such as fibres, pellets, films, and fragments. These microplastics ranged in size from 0.1 mm to 5 mm.

Notably, iodised salt exhibited the highest concentration of microplastics, primarily in the form of multi-coloured thin fibres and films.

The study analyzed 10 types of salt (including table salt, rock salt, sea salt, and local raw salt) and five types of sugar purchased from both online and local markets. These microplastics were found in various forms, including fibers, pellets, films, and fragments, with sizes ranging from 0.1 mm to 5 mm. The much over-hyped iodized salt had the highest concentration of microplastics (89.15 pieces per kilogram), while organic rock salt had the lowest (6.70 pieces per kilogram). This discovery underscores the need for comprehensive research into the long-term health impacts of microplastics on human health, as these tiny plastic particles can enter our bodies through food, water, and air.

The potential health risks of consuming microplastics are a growing concern. Although research is ongoing, below are some known and suspected effefood.
1. Gastrointestinal Issues: Microplastics can accumulate in the digestive tract, potentially causing irritation, inflammation, and disruption of gut microbiota.

2. Toxic Chemicals: Microplastics can absorb and release toxic chemicals (such as phthalates and bisphenol A) that may leach into the body upon ingestion.

3. Immune System Impact: Exposure to microplastics might affect immune responses, althoLgh the exact mechanisms are not fully understood.

4. Organ Damage: Some studies suggest that microplastics could harm organs like the liver, kidneys, and lungs.

5. Cancer Risk: While not definitively proven, there's concern that long-term exposure to microplastics could increase cancer risk.

It is to be noted that minimizing plastic use and supporting sustainable practices can help reduce microplastic pollution.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has taken swift action in response to the alarming findings from the study by Toxics Link.

In March 2024, FSSAI launched an ambitious project titled “Micro-and Nano-Plastics as Emerging Food Contaminants: Establishing Validated Methodologies and Understanding the Prevalence in Different Food Matrices.”

On August 18, 2024, FSSAI then launched an innovative project to address the growing concern of microplastic contamination in Indian food. The project aims to develop and validate analytical methods for detecting micro and nano-plastics in various food products. It also assesses their prevalence and exposure levels in India.

FSSAI collaborates with leading research institutions across the country, including the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (Lucknow), ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (Kochi), and the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Pilani).

The project focuses on developing standard protocols for micro/nano-plastic analysis, conducting intra- and inter-laboratory comparisons, and generating critical data on microplastic exposure levels among consumers.

While global studies highlight the presence of microplastics in various foods, this project specifically generates reliable data for India. It will guide the formulation of effective regulations and safety standards to protect public health.

The project aims to:
  • Develop Detection Methods: FSSAI is working on standard protocols to detect micro and nano-plastics in food items.
  • Assess Prevalence: By assessing the prevalence and exposure levels of these harmful particles, FSSAI aims to improve food safety across India.
  • Establish Safety Standards: The initiative focuses on understanding the prevalence of microplastics in different food matrices, which are the materials that make up the food products we consume.
This proactive step by FSSAI underscores the gravity of microplastic contamination and its potential health risks.

Knowing How Home Care Nurses Comfort and Compassionately Treat Patients

Knowing How Home Care Nurses Comfort and Compassionately Treat Patients

Introduction

The function of a nurse in the healthcare industry comprises compassion, comfort, and individualized care in addition to standard medical procedures and treatments. Particularly home care nurses are essential in providing these traits to patients who need post-operative nursing care in the convenience of their own homes. This type of medical care not only encourages physical recovery but also makes a substantial contribution to emotional wellbeing. In this essay, we examine the considerate care given by home health nurses, emphasizing the critical components of post-operative nursing care and the advantages of getting treatment at home.
The Vitality of Home Health Nursing
In a specialist area of medicine known as home care nursing, patients are given both physical and emotional support in the comfort of their own homes. Patients recovering from surgical operations notably benefit from this type of care since they can get the essential medical treatment while being surrounded by familiar surroundings and loved ones. The management of wounds, the control of pain, the administration of medications, and the observation of vital signs are all part of the post-operative nursing care that home care nurses are trained to provide. But what genuinely distinguishes them is their capacity to show empathy and provide emotional support, which helps others feel safe and at ease.

Nurse Post-Operative Care

A crucial stage of the healing process that necessitates painstaking attention to detail is post-operative nursing care. Home care nurses are skilled at managing the complexities of this stage, ensuring that patients recover in a secure and efficient manner. They are skilled in managing surgical wounds, guarding against infections, and facilitating healthy healing. They can spot any indications of difficulties and respond quickly to them by continuously monitoring the patient's status. Additionally, they inform patients and their families about medication schedules, wound care guidelines, and any potential warning signs so that they may take an active role in the healing process.

Kindness in Home Care

Home care nurses are excellent examples of this trait in their interactions with patients because compassion is at the core of nursing care. Surgery recovery can be both physically and emotionally draining for patients. Anxiety, dread, and discomfort can all be reduced by the presence of a kind nurse. Home care nurses take the time to hear patients' worries, respond to their inquiries, and reassure them. This emotional support is priceless because it aids in the process of healing on a whole. Patients' stress levels drop when they feel cared for and understood, which has a beneficial effect on how quickly they recover.

The atmosphere of home comfort

In the course of healing, the comfort of one's home surroundings cannot be overstated. It has been demonstrated that being in comfortable settings with loved ones and personal possessions improves psychological well-being. Home care nurses bridge the gap between professional care and the comfort of home by bringing medical competence to this setting. Combining these two elements encourages a holistic healing process that attends to both bodily and emotional demands. Furthermore, when patients are in a comfortable environment, they are more likely to follow through with recommended treatments and medications, which results in greater results.

Benefits of Nursing Home Care

  1. Home care nurses offer personalised attention, configuring their strategy to the patient's particular requirements and preferences. Patients receive treatments and interventions that are tailored to their unique situations thanks to this individualized care.
  2. Lessened Risk of Infections: For post-operative patients, hospital-acquired infections can be a source of worry. Recovery at home reduces this risk. To guarantee a clean and secure environment, home care nurses adhere to strict hygiene regulations.
  3. Family Involvement: Home care promotes family involvement in the patient's recovery. This not only improves emotional support but also teaches family members how to help with caregiving duties, empowering them in the process.
  4. Continuity of Care: To ensure seamless communication and coordination of the treatment plan, home care nurses work closely with the patient's primary healthcare providers. This results in a more thorough and successful recuperation process.
  5. Dignity and Independence: Recovery at home helps the patient maintain their sense of dignity and autonomy. While receiving the required medical treatment, they can continue to be in charge of their everyday activities and decisions.

Conclusion

Home care nursing is a prime example of the compassion and consolation that nurses contribute to the medical industry, particularly in the setting of post-operative care. These committed specialists help patients recover with dignity and peace of mind by providing both competent medical care and emotional support. An ideal environment for healing is created when clinical knowledge and familiarity with the home environment are combined. The role of home care nurses in post-operative nursing care continues to be vital in its contribution to patients' wellbeing as the demand for individualized and patient-centered care rises.

LISSUN, India’s one of the largest mental health platforms, has announced the launch of its first offline centre for children facing developmental and behavioural disorders- Sunshine by LISSUN. This initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to addressing the challenges faced by parents and children in finding quality care for issues like Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, etc. The first Sunshine Centre has been inaugurated in the vibrant neighbourhood of East Patel Nagar, New Delhi. The announcement follows the recent addition of renowned psychologist Dr. Roma Kumar to its team, further enhancing LISSUN’s expertise in child mental health.

The centre boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including counselling rooms, occupational therapy areas, assessment zones, and more, ensuring a seamless experience for both parents and children. Each Sunshine Centre will feature a dedicated team of Developmental paediatricians, Clinical Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Occupation Therapists, Special Educators, and ABA therapists to help provide multi-disciplinary expertise to parents and their children.

Amidst the distressing reality that over 50 million children in India grapple with mental health and developmental or behavioural issues, an alarming 80-90% struggle without seeking support. Regrettably, the system remains inadequately funded to tackle this pressing crisis. At LISSUN, we stand firmly dedicated to fostering the well-being of the next generation through the introduction of Sunshine, a profound initiative prioritizing the development of children. We believe that every child deserves access to comprehensive support, and it is our mission to bridge the gap between the need and the available resources. Through Sunshine, we aim to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore their emotions, develop resilience, and receive expert guidance tailored to their unique needs.” said Mr. Tarun Gupta, Co-founder & Director, LISSUN.

In recognizing the limitations of relying solely on a 100 percent digital model for assessing a child’s behaviour, it becomes evident that ensuring accurate findings requires a physical presence. LISSUN has long embraced a phygital approach, understanding the indispensable role of a physical structure in this field backed by a strong tech backbone. Hence, launching the inaugural physical centre for Sunshine by LISSUN signifies yet another stride towards our mission,” stated Dr. Krishna Veer Singh, Co-founder & Director, LISSUN.

Going forward, LISSUN has ambitious plans to establish a chain of Sunshine centres nationwide. In the initial phase, multiple centres are set to be launched in Pune, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Delhi NCR region. Delhi-based Female Hygiene Brand Mild Cares is Solving Women Hygiene Issues in Most Sustainable Ways

Observing the struggles and discomfort that menstruation caused for his mother and wife, Sandeep Vyas, founder of Delhi based Mild Cares, wanted to create a range of products that were both comfortable and discreet, so women could forget about their menstruation and focus on their daily lives.

This led to the decision to venture into toilet and intimate hygiene and period care products. Mild Cares recognized the importance of maintaining good hygiene, not just during menstruation but also in daily life. The company wanted to create a range of products that would cater to the needs of women in all aspects of their hygiene.

Started in January 2020, Mildcares offers range of female hygiene products including Period Care Products, Toilet Care Products, and Intimate Care Products. The idea was to create a one-stop-shop for all the women's hygiene needs and make their lives more comfortable and hygienic.

Last December, Mild Cares Pvt. Ltd. received undisclosed amount from Tim Draper family-led investment platform & reality show "Meet The Drapers".

The Problem Mild Cares is Solving

Mild Cares aims to solve the problem of lack of access to reliable and affordable menstrual hygiene products in rural areas. The company provides innovative and eco-friendly menstrual cups under the brand "GynoCup" to improve menstrual hygiene for women and girls in rural areas.

The company represented India as a HealthTech company in the 1st ASEAN-India Start-up Festival held in Indonesia, last year in October.

GynoCup

GynoCup

Mild Cares' flagship product is the "GynoCup" menstrual cup, which is made of medical-grade silicone and provides a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional menstrual products.

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Option

GynoCup is a reusable menstrual cup made from medical-grade silicone, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly option for menstruation management. Unlike disposable pads and tampons, which generate waste and can take centuries to decompose, GynoCup can be used for years, significantly reducing your environmental footprint.

Material and Safety Considerations

GynoCup is made from high-quality, medical-grade silicone, which is hypoallergenic and free from harmful chemicals like BPA, latex, and phthalates. This ensures that GynoCup is safe for long-term use and suitable for users with allergies or sensitivities.

Mild Cares use LSR Technology to improve their menstrual cup, by using liquid silicon in their menstrual cup. The company claims that liquid silicon is the best certified class 6 medical grade silicon for menstrual cups. This type of silicon is known for its high-quality, durability and flexibility, and also biocompatible, which means it is safe to use in the human body.

Additionally, LSR technology enables more precise manufacturing, which can result in a more consistent product with fewer defects.

Why GynoCup is Gaining Popularity

Recognized as India's innovation to solve global challenges in Feminine Hygiene by AGNII — Government of India, GynoCup has gained popularity for several reasons, including their eco-friendliness, cost-effectiveness, and health benefits. Many users find them more comfortable and convenient than disposable products.

In addition to the menstrual cup itself, GynoCup offers a range of complementary products like cup wash, intimate wash, wipes, disposable toilet seat covers, and disposable stand & pee devices. These products help girls & women to maintain personal hygiene and comfort during their period.

Additionally, the company has collaborated with Jiyyo Mitra e-Clinic to promote and sell GynoCup in rural areas of India.

Counting Sirona and Peesafe as its competitors, Mild Cares' founders says, "Mild Cares is unique in several ways. First, the company provides innovative and sustainable solutions for menstrual, intimate, and toilet hygiene issues faced by women globally, which sets it apart from traditional menstrual product companies. Second, Mild Cares offers a revolutionary menstrual cup called GynoCup, made of medical-grade silicone, that is reusable for up to 10 years, providing a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for menstrual hygiene. This is a unique and innovative approach to menstrual hygiene that sets Mild Cares apart from competitors."

Mild Cares generates revenue through both online and offline channels, with 80% of the revenue coming from online channels and 20% from offline channels.

The Best Ways to Have a Calm Mind at Work

The Best Ways to Have a Calm Mind at Work

Psychologists always say: stress for any reason tires you both emotionally and physically. Therefore, if you are overly sensitive and receptive, at some point you may feel tired and eternally apathetic. But this state is not always caused by your perception. External factors must also be taken into account.

Comfortable work is one of the main conditions for a good emotional state. If you feel uncomfortable, your work may be toxic.

Despite the fact that the waste of nerve cells is a normal part of our lives, constant stress reduces productivity, affects physical and emotional health. Therefore, it is important to keep stress under control.

Fortunately, each of us can limit and control it. Of course, this is easier to do when professional activity brings pleasure. This article helps you to know more about job vacancies in Dubai UAE and have a calm mind at work.

What creates stressful situations at work?

Many associate their own experiences with character traits, but your temperament is not always the cause of stress. There are situations when work processes break down not so much because of the mood, but because of the general atmosphere in the office or the manner of communication in the team.

Thus, among the key reasons for stressful situations at work, one can single out conflicts with the team and disagreements with the management. Such cases often arise due to the fact that some employees may take criticism to heart and take offense even at constructive comments. If you find yourself in a company where toxic communication is the norm, I advise you to consider changing jobs. In such a team, you will always feel uncomfortable, as a result of which your productivity will drop, and you simply will not want to come to work.

Also, the mental state is strongly affected by uncomfortable working conditions. Among these factors, one can single out both a cluttered office with incorrectly selected furniture, and inadequate deadlines for large tasks. All this translates into a lack of motivation, which is why labor efficiency falls. If you feel that you are uncomfortable in the office and you are spending more resources on work than you are getting in return, then be sure to report this to management. As a rule, company owners try to carefully monitor working conditions and reward valuable employees with promotions or bonuses.

What is stress?

To begin with, stress is an adaptive response. He helped our ancestors to quickly mobilize in case of sudden danger.

The main symptoms of stress:
  • physical weakness, headache, high fatigue;
  • difficult to relax;
  • sleep disorders;
  • impaired concentration, memory problems, lethargy;
  • muscle stiffness, spasms;
  • depression, apathy;
  • appetite disorders: starvation or overeating;
  • irritability, anxiety, tearfulness;
  • nervous tics, obsessive movements (a person bites his lips, bites his nails);
  • suspicion, intolerance towards others;
  • the desire to quit everything.
Usually these are symptoms of the third stage of stress. There are three stages of stress in total.
  1. The first stage: the reaction of anxiety, or mobilization. The pulse and breathing quicken, the “stress hormone” cortisol is released, the body systems are brought into a state of readiness.
  2. Second stage: characterized by resistance, when the body tries to adapt, and either calms down or moves to the third stage.
  3. The third stage: the stage of exhaustion, when the body's resistance drops, and the person begins to experience those unpleasant symptoms that are described above.
There is a lot of talk about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. But it does not occur so often: according to statistics, in 3% of the population, mainly in women aged 30-45, who are successful in their careers. Hence its second name - “manager's syndrome“. Indeed, entrepreneurs and managers are subject to stress, and especially in the current changing environment.

First of all, we must remember that stress mobilizes the body. So, in order to overcome it, you need to relax and relieve stress.

How to stop being nervous in 10 seconds?

Now we will analyze how to learn competent work with stress. These life hacks will help you when you need to calm down as soon as possible, but you can't get rid of the emotional storm.
  • Breathing exercises. In order to perform these exercises, you do not need to know many techniques at all. To quickly calm down, it will be enough just to be distracted from work for a couple of minutes and take a few deep breaths and exhalations. It will be even more effective if, in the process of doing this simple exercise, you try to meditate and drive a couple of affirmations in your head that set you up for positive thoughts.
  • Emotion diary. If you feel like you're about to explode, try one practice often recommended by psychologists and psychotherapists. Take a small sheet of paper and draw a table with three sections: situation, emotion, reason. Think about what caused the stress and describe how you feel. Also, do not forget to write down your fears, as a result of which emotions are amplified. Example: “I did not have time to complete the task by the deadline, I feel disappointment, fear and resentment. Most likely, this happened due to the fact that the manager set me a very tight deadline, and with all my desire I could not cope with the work in 2 days. I am very afraid that now I will be fired.” Next, you need to consider how realistic your fears are - people often exaggerate the possible consequences when they are at the peak of negative emotions.
  • Short rest. If you have a little time to take your mind off work, be sure to take this opportunity. In order to relax, it is not at all necessary to run away to the nearest cafe - just step away for a couple of minutes to drink tea or wash your face. As a rule, hot drinks tend to calm down, and cool water invigorates and refreshes. Such a short rest will help you quickly reboot and tune in to work processes.
  • Set a symbolic border. Define a certain point on the ground, which will mark the border. For example, it can be a barrier at the exit from the territory where your office is located. Finding the boundary is not enough - it is important to train in sensations. Think about how you want to feel and behave in one role and how you want to behave in another. Perhaps it would be better to write it down, because such things quickly slip out of your head.
  • Thing is a switch. As soon as you cross the set point, the border - inhale and exhale as you discard the working role, like an unnecessary bathrobe. Feel how you began to fill the second role. If you suddenly need to return to the role (for example, if a colleague or boss calls you after hours), then just a few seconds before your "Hello" temporarily put on the dressing gown of the working role back.
  • Wash your hands up to the elbow with cold water. As soon as you get home, immediately wash your face, wash your hands and change clothes as soon as possible. In my practice, there was such a case - I left the office incredibly tired, exhausted. And a colleague gave me amazing advice on how to quickly relax and get rid of tension: "Go wash your hands up to the elbow with cool water for two minutes, only this is important - up to the elbow and cool." It worked just fine: for several minutes I was focused only on the temperature of the water and the exact hit of the water no higher and no lower than the elbow. In the end, I returned fresh and switched. The point is not the magical effect of cool water on the skin, but the ability to switch off for at least a couple of minutes and not think about problems.
  • Watch (meditate). If experiences have tortured you, it's time to stop brushing them off. Find a quiet place. You don’t even need a special meditation pavilion for this: just a quiet place where no one will disturb you for at least five minutes. Sit comfortably. Let the feelings come like a wave. Don't fight, don't resist. Let them come. Give them a name. Watch them. Consider where they might have come from. Do not judge - your task is simply to allow the wave to pass through you and move on. This exercise is great for both getting rid of constant stress and reconciling with negative emotions.
And if you didn’t manage to cope with negative emotions and you still “exploded” at work, then don’t forget to apologize to your colleagues or clients. It is not necessary to come up with excuses like inadequate deadlines and uncomfortable working conditions - it will be enough just to say: “Sorry, I was nervous.” Not only will this save time, but it will help your team understand that you are taking responsibility for your own actions.

Cannabis Wellness Startup Awshad Launches Its Cannabis Medicinal Capsules Named 'Calmasule',

With this new line of products, Awshad intends to expand its target audience and customer base and thereby increase sales and revenue in order to consolidate market leadership. Awshad has been working with leading cannabis manufacturing and formulation teams in India in a bid to come out with these superlative, pure cannabis extract capsules that have been proven to have very high efficacy and showed extremely promising results amongst the focus groups. Awshad’s new range of capsules have been made available under two variants: Calmasule and Calmasule Plus; the main difference between these two variants lies in the concentration/ratio of CBD and THC (both of them being compounds present in cannabis) present in the product. Calmasule is the milder product variant which is more versatile and can be used by a wide range of users. With 10mg CBD and 5mg THC (2:1 CBD: THC ratio), Calmasule helps patients combat anxiety, stress, insomnia and mild pain issues. And we also found out that a lot of people are more comfortable with capsules and pills over edible tinctures. We further recognized that we were interacting with a lot of people who are looking for stronger cannabis products in the market, as the current offering isn’t satisfying their needs. Following these findings and active listening to our customers’ feedback, we are glad to now introduce Awshad’s new medicinal cannabis capsules. Looking at the growing acceptance in the market, we are very certain Calmasule will create a huge demand in the Indian cannabis space and help Awshad to consolidate its leadership in the Indian medical cannabis space.”
