Leads Agri Genetics Launches India’s 1st Privately-Owned Integrated CoE for Cattle & Plant Genomics

Leads Agri Genetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leads Connect launched India’s first privately-owned Integrated Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Cattle and Plant Genomics Laboratory in Greater Noida. This landmark initiative is a giant leap by Leads Connect in advancing India’s agricultural biotechnology and livestock genomics capabilities. Leads Agri Genetics is also the first Indian private company to have imported the Gir embryos - genetic material from Brazil to India under Breed Improvement Program.

The new centre was inaugurated by Mr. Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Chairman, BL Agro, India’s leading FMCG brand and the holding company of Leads Connect. The Centre of Excellence (CoE) aims to catapult India at the forefront of global agri-genomics research and innovation. The newly launched Leads Agri Genetics Lab will have a full-stack genomics service platform that is designed exclusively for the agri-genomics and agricultural biotechnology sector.

Shri Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Chairman of BL Agro Group, addressed the media during the launch event, expressing his strong support for government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of farmers. He emphasized the importance of genomics studies in enhancing agricultural productivity and yield. Tata Power and Noida Int'l Airport Ink MoU for Smart Energy Infrastructure

Tata Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Noida International Airport (NIA) to develop a smart energy infrastructure. This partnership aims to make NIA one of India's most eco-friendly airports by integrating renewable energy into its operations.

Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPTCL) will be at the forefront of this partnership, managing the complete renewable energy portfolio interface, and ensuring NIA’s clean energy needs are met through a comprehensive Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Under this arrangement, TPTCL will supply 10.8 MW of wind power for NIA, with secured assets from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL).

TPREL will also develop, operate, and maintain a 13 MW onsite solar power capacity to contribute to the airport’s overall energy needs. Together, TPREL’s wind and solar installations will supply the airport’s sustainable power needs, underscoring Tata Power’s dedication to building sustainable airport infrastructure.

The total investment is Rs 550 crore (approximately $66 million).

The agreement spans 25 years, covering the development, operation, and maintenance of the energy infrastructure.

The collaboration aims to support the development of Net Zero Airports, catering to millions of passengers while accelerating India's path towards a greener future.

This partnership showcases Tata Power's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and NIA's vision for environmentally conscious airport operations.

The first phase of NIA, featuring one runway and one terminal, will have the capacity to handle traffic of 12 million passengers annually. Upon completion of all four development phases, the airport will be able to cater to 70 million passengers per year.

NIA is expected to become India's largest airport and one of the largest in the world upon completion. It will also serve as a significant connection point in the Asia Pacific region.

Apart from the recent partnership with Noida International Airport, Tata Power has been involved in several other airport projects to provide sustainable energy solutions. Tata Power has been supplying renewable energy to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, helping the airport reduce its carbon footprint.

The park will be developed across Sectors 10 and 28 by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The state government has introduced a semiconductor policy offering significant incentives to attract investments. The semiconductor park near Noida International Airport is set to house several prominent companies. Kaynes Semicon Private Limited has been allocated 50 acres in Sector 10. Vama Sundari Investments also allocated 50 acres in Sector 10.

TURCK has been allotted 125 acres in Sector 28.

Mahindra to Skill 500 Women to Become Drone Pilots; Inks MoU With Ministry

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a leading farm equipment company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to launch the Drone Didi Yojana. This initiative aims to train 15,000 women to operate drones for agricultural purposes, such as fertilizer sowing, crop monitoring, and seed sowing.

The program will conduct two pilot projects at the National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI) in Hyderabad and Noida. These pilots are designed to skill 500 women in exclusive batches of 20, with a 15-day curriculum approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The training will be delivered by Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) instructors.

Within this partnership, the NSTIs will provide infrastructure for running the training programme, hostel for participants and tap into local Women Self Help Groups and NGOs to mobilise participation. Mahindra Group will provide initial set-up support through simulation machinery/drones, simulator controller, simulator software, Desktop computer with i5 Processor and trainers, and meet the operating costs for the duration of the Pilot project, including the cost of DGCA License Holder Instructors at the centres.

As a further support to the intent of the Drone Didi Yojana, Mahindra will soon roll out Drone training for women at the company’s skilling centres at Zaheerabad, Telangana and Nagpur, Maharashtra.

NTPC and EDII join hands to empower women through entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, a 'Centre of Excellence' recognised by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the CSR Division of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) on Friday.

Under the MoA, EDII will facilitate New Enterprise Creation among the underprivileged women in the vicinity of NTPC Noida. EDII will ensure the setting up of a Cold Compressed Oil Unit for the benefit of underprivileged women. This initiative will be strengthened by appropriate training and handholding to the participating women. NTPC has taken this initiative as a part of its CSR activity of empowering women and making them entrepreneurial and self-sustaining. In all, 30 women from self-help groups will be rendered independent and empowered over one year.


EDII implements several programmes for women entrepreneurship and empowerment as a CSR initiative for various corporate houses such as Accenture, HSBC, TATA Communications, Amazon India, Facebook, ONGC, BAYER, HCL, etc. Thus far, through sensitisation programmes, entrepreneurship competency-building programmes, domain and skill training, networking and marketing exposure, and handholding support, the institute has reached out to more than 39,142 women across the country.

Friday, 12th May 2023, marked an important event in Junior High School, Dhoom Manikpur, with the commencement of Infrastructure Development activities in the school. The school students had been putting up with washrooms that were worn and broken, non-hygienic, unclean, and unsanitary. INDIAdonates, supported by Roto Pumps, have taken up a project to reconstruct the washrooms, clean and upgrade them and provide running water. A brand new handwashing station with running water will also be built for the students. Noida-based NGO Sadrag will be implementing the infrastructure development project.

Mega Manufacturing Facility for Hearables, Wearables and IoT Devices Opens in Noida

After grabbing the site for world’s largest robot manufacturing factory, Uttar Pradesh's Noida city now gets mega manufacturing facility for hearables, wearables and IoT devices, inaugurated today by Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

The new new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, commissioned by Zetwerk Group Company, aims to produce 10 million devices annually.

Spread out over an area of 50,000 sq.ft, the factory comprises 16 manufacturing lines with advanced testers and a world-class innovation lab for product development. With the objective of strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities in the smart technology space, the factory has been established to create ODMs (Original Design Manufacturer) in hearables, wearables and IOT devices.

Notably, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has coined the coming decade as "Techade". India Techade targets USD 300 billion Electronics manufacturing by 2025-26, and "more EMS,ODM, ESDM Companies are needed to drive this," said the minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a tweet.


Products manufactured at Zet Town’s new ODM facility are developed using a customizable model that enables the company to control the smart technology in the device by customizing product features and positioning in keeping with the requirements of customers.

Speaking about the new facility, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said “Over the last 5 years, the Prime Minister has been focusing extensively on bolstering our domestic capabilities in the electronics sector. He recognised this as an incredible growth opportunity for Indian manufacturers prior to the pandemic and over the last two years, that opportunity has grown multi-fold. India has the potential to contribute around US $ 400 billion worth of electronics goods including exports worth US$120 billion, which would account for 9-10% of the overall global value chains, from the current supply potential of 1-2%. Ambitions have been reset and we need more companies like Zetwerk in making this vision a reality. Their model is unique and can be easily scalable. I congratulate Zetwerk for this. They can play a significant role in achieving our objectives of making India a significant player in electronics GVC
