Glance, the consumer technology company backed by Google, launches an integrated lock screen version of Glance AI, an AI commerce platform designed specifically for Samsung users in the US. The strategic partnership will allow Samsung users exclusive access to Glance's AI shopping and styling experiences and content discovery.

Glance AI is a new AI Commerce platform that delivers inspirational, Generative AI-led commerce and content discovery. Launched earlier this month, Glance AI is disrupting how consumers shop today, allowing them to instantly visualize themselves in AI-curated stylized looks and purchase their favorites with a tap. eSARAS Mobile App Lsunched to Market Products Made by Women of Self-help Groups

Taking another step of strengthening marketing support for products made by women of Self-help Groups (SHGs), Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna- National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) launched eSARAS mobile App which will add to eCommerce initiatives for products made by the SHGs.

Currently available for Android phones, eSaras is essentially an online platform to buy Indian handicraft items, handloom items. The e-commerce platform as well as the app have been developed for the enhancement of the livelihood of the rural people. This online platform showcases the products made by self-managed Self Help Groups (SHGs) and federated institutions.

The App was launched by Mr Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Govt of India at New Delhi. Mr Singh also inaugurated eSARAS Fulfillment Centre at the Ministry’s Janakpuri office in New Delhi on this occasion.

eSARAS, an e-commerce mobile app, will be used as a more effective platform for marketing of the products made by women of self-help groups. It is an initiative conceptualized by the DAY-NRLM towards the marketing of the best, authentic handicrafts and hand-looms.

Through this online portal, customers get access to 100% authentic handcrafted products emerging straight from the heart of India.

The eSARAS fulfillment centre will be managed by the Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains (FDRVC - a Not for Profit Company constituted jointly by Ministry of Rural Development and Tata Trust) and will be used for processing, packaging and shipping of products that customers purchase through the eSARAS Portal and eSARAS mobile App. It will handle the logistics required to bring an online order to a customer's doorstep.

Launching the App, Secretary Mr Shailesh Kumar Singh termed it as an initiative which promotes the spirit of Vocal for Local even further with easier marketing of products prepared by SHG Didis.

He added that the Ministry is targeting that each SHG Household has at least 2-3 sources of livelihoods. One of the multiple sources of livelihoods of the poor is non-farm enterprise. The major intervention in non-farm livelihoods is provision of market linkages for SHG products. Through the eSARAS mobile App, the handmade products made by SHG Didis are now available at everyone’s fingertips in even more customer friendly way.

There's Rise in Lack of Trust in E-Commerce Among Global Users Including India, Says Survey

A new global survey reveals that Internet users are increasingly concerned about their online privacy, and that 49 percent of users polled say lack of trust is their main reason for not shopping online.

The countries included in the survey was: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.

The survey, conducted by Ipsos and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Internet Society, comes as data breaches and the reported hacking of elections in several European countries continues to capture international headlines. The survey results suggest that the resulting impact on trust is hindering further development of the digital economy.

Released yesterday at the UNCTAD E-Commerce Week in Geneva, the 2017 CIGI-Ipsos Global Survey on Internet Security & Trust shows that among those worried about their privacy, the top sources of concern were cybercriminals (82%), Internet companies (74%) and governments (65%).



“The lifeblood of the Internet is trust, and when that is damaged, the consequences for the digital economy are nearly irreparable,” said Director of CIGI’s Global Security & Politics program Fen Osler Hampson. “The results of this global survey offer a glimpse into why policymakers should be concerned, and why there is a strong link between user trust and the health of e-commerce,” he said.

Lack of trust is most likely to keep people off e-commerce platforms in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, suggesting that the potential gains of e-commerce are not spread evenly around the globe.

The survey also revealed great differences in e-commerce behavior when it came to how users are purchasing goods online. For example, in China, India and Indonesia, more than 86 percent of respondents expect to make mobile payments on their smartphone in the next year, compared with less than 30 percent in France, Germany and Japan.

Even in the digital world, location still matters. Fifty-five percent of global respondents indicated that they prefer purchasing online goods and services made in their own country.

"The survey confirms the importance of having adequate consumer protection and data protection in place, areas where many developing countries are lagging behind," said Shamika N. Sirimanne, Director of UNCTAD’s Division on Technology and Logistics. “More capacity-building is therefore urgently needed,” she added.

The survey of 24,225 Internet users was conducted by global research company Ipsos, on behalf of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) between December 23, 2016, and March 21, 2017. The survey was conducted in 24 countries—Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.

“Nearly 50 percent of Internet users surveyed do not trust the Internet and this lack of trust is affecting the way they use it. The findings of this year’s CIGI-Ipsos survey underscore the importance of taking action now to build stronger online trust by addressing users’ concerns and using technologies such as encryption to secure communications,” said Sally Wentworth, Vice President of Global Policy for the Internet Society.

The project was launched by Silvia Dimitrova (Founder) in February 2012 with approximately 6 months prior preparations period which started in the autumn of 2011 with the founding of the company.

‘Drujno’ is the Bulgarian word for ‘Together’ which basically represents the whole idea behind the collective shopping mechanism.

With education in the area of IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications) and Business Management and having worked in established companies with long history, Silvia wanted to materialize the experience in a personal baby project and felt an inner urge to create a “product” from the scratch with all that belongs to it – the initial research & strategic planning, the actual implementation of the business idea and the promotion of it.

Silvia says "Back when I started, the market in which my aggregator operates was at the last stages of the 'Rising star' cycle of the life of a product. At the end of 2011 and in 2012 the number of players on the field was still huge but the processes of the merging’s and buy outs have already started. So knowing I lack the financial resources to compete with the strongest players in acquiring market shares, I choose the niche approach, developed an exclusive product and positioned it as such. The slogan does in fact represent my business philosophy – I don't work with all available partner websites but have filtered only those that met my criteria: reliable customer service and professionalism in the business partnerships. Based on the conscious & subconscious meaning of the colours the choice of purple as dominant colour of the website does further contribute to the philosophy of exclusivity".

Currently partnered with around 20+ websites, Drujno.bg is privately owned and managed by Silvia himself as he says “It is basically one man show with the invaluable assistance of my software agency and accountant”
Maintaining relationships with the loyal returning customer base and acquiring new customers with constant communicational and promotional tools, but no more huge investments, are being planned at Drunjo.bg. The funding at the company was done with personal means; the initial investment being around USD 2500.

On asking, how was it for him to grow a company all on his own in the preliminary stage, Silvia recollects "The initial half a year before the launch was very stressful – constant expenditures with no return in sight, delays due to external factors, bugs in the system and bad experiences with unreliable partners. Yet I am grateful for the difficulties and troubles because they resulted in me fine tuning the initial concept which led to the new and better slogan – All the offers from the BETTER websites".


With a simple message of "Get up One more time than you have fallen down!" for young entrepreneur, Silvia thinks that without self-doubt which prompts you to action and gives birth to new ideas, there is no progress!

With an appealing belief that there are no problems, just issues- with pending solutions, Silvia is all set to bring Drunjo.bg into one of the top players in the market. We wish him all the luck.
