The Bharat Summit, to be held on April 25–26, 2025 at HICC, Hyderabad, is being organized by the Government of Telangana in collaboration with Samruddha Bharat Foundation to mark the 70th anniversary of the historic Bandung Conference that laid the foundation for the Non-Aligned Movement. The theme of the summit, ‘Delivering Global Justice’, echoes the call for NYAY (justice) championed by Leader of the Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi. The summit is set to bring together over 450 global delegates from more than 100 nations, including corporate heads, key ministers, policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders, along with representatives from 25 international think tanks. Leader of the Opposition Rajya Sabha Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi and Smt. Priyanka Gandhi will attend the summit on both days.

The Bharat Summit is a defining moment for Telangana and will transform the state into a permanent platform for all progressive forces who’re committed to a democratic, liberal, and just world order. The summit will honor India’s legacy in global peace and justice but also Telangana as a modern-day meeting ground for global thinkers, reformers, and changemakers.

Unveiling the official logo for Bharat Summit 2025, Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Bhatti Vikramarka said, “We are pleased to unveil the logo and theme for Bharat Summit 2025 on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. The Bharat Summit will host a gathering of over 450 of the world’s foremost thinkers and nearly 100 progressive parties, 40-50 ministers, 50 senators and MPs, numerous heads of parties and nearly 100 sectoral experts who will engage in bilateral discussions. We hope the Bharat Summit transforms into a permanent platform for all progressive forces who’re committed to a democratic, liberal, and just world order. We are extremely thankful to the Minister of External Affairs Shri S Jaishankar to extend all the required support to the Bharat Summit, to be organised by the state government in a bid to take Telangana to the top in the next 25 years.”

Minister for Industries Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu said, “We are pleased to be hosting such an important Summit at a time when the world is going through such geopolitical, economic and democratic upheavals. The summit will honor India’s legacy in global peace and justice as well as position Telangana as a modern-day meeting ground for global thinkers, reformers, and changemakers Through this summit, we will be discussing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s development vision of Telangana Rising and how investors and entrepreneurs can invest in Telangana from across the world. We hope Bharat Summit becomes an annual feature, and Telangana Government can support this initiative in the future.”

Former Minister for Corporate Affairs, Shri Salman Khurshid said, “Such a gathering of progressive parties has rarely happened before. At the NAM summit, 29 parties had gathered. Today, nearly 100 parties are gathering. This is a historic first. I hope this becomes an annual feature for all progressives. Under PM Nehru, PM Indira Gandhi, PM Rajiv Gandhi, PM Narasimha Rao, PM Manmohan Singh and numerous other leaders, India has always played a leading role in global affairs—whether it was the NAM, the anti-colonial movement, the anti-apartheid movement, the non-proliferation movement, or providing humanitarian assistance to the world. We have leveraged all those networks for the Bharat Summit.”

Indian Overseas Congress Chairperson, Shri Sam Pitroda said, “Today, the world is at a crossroads. Democracy is being derailed; the world is reverting to primordial rules of statecraft; the world also seems to be splitting into spheres of influence and economic blocs; consequently, inequalities are mushrooming with trade wars, crony capitalism and slashing of welfare expenditure; civic rights are being undermined; the laws underpinning the liberal world order are being demolished. At such a time, India needs to once again show the world that there exists a middle and moral ground. Through Bharat Summit, we hope to start a global progressive movement. I am happy that the Telangana Govt will institutionalise this platform.”

AICC Telangana In-Charge and former MP, Ms. Meenakshi Natarajan said, “The Bharat Summit is an opportunity for us to rethink how the State should conduct itself in the new global context. The partnership is reaching out to over 40,000 school children through the Amazon Future Engineer Program. The program envisions strengthening Fundamental Literacy and Numeracy skills using Mindspark, a personally adaptive learning platform and to introduce concepts of Computer Science to students in classes five to nine.

The program is designed to offer a tailored learning experience that bridges learning gaps in students by personalising their learning in Maths & Languages. The Computer Science workbooks and Hour of Code activities (from code.org) enable students to learn various topics of Computer Science like, sequencing, loops, encoding etc.

In the month of December, all students part of the AFE program will be celebrating the Hour of Code week to explore the world of computer Science through 1 hour of coding. Hour of Code is a strategic concept that includes engaging games and activities which often use block coding to make it easy for beginners to understand and practice. Hour of Code and Computer Science workbooks nurture the cognitive and analytical skills of the students alongside familiarizing them with the fundamentals of coding. This will help the students in laying a foundation for a future career in computer science or technology.

Vedanta Aluminium Dispatches First Supply of India’s 1st Ever Low-Carbon Green Aluminium To Telangana's Global Aluminium

Vedanta Aluminium Dispatches First Supply of India’s 1st Ever Low-Carbon Green Aluminium To Telangana's Global Aluminium
With an order of 300 metric tons of "Restora Billets", Telangana's Global Aluminium is the first Indian customer for Vedanta Aluminium’s low-carbon product range

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has dispatched its first domestic supply of Restora, the nation’s first-ever low-carbon ‘green’ aluminium, to Global Aluminium Pvt Ltd, a leading aluminium extrusion company based in Telangana. As part of the order, the company will supply 300 metric tons of Restora Billets to Global Aluminium, making it the first domestic customer of what is likely among the most sustainable products from the domestic primary aluminium industry today. The agreement thus also marks a significant milestone in the industry’s accelerated journey towards decarbonising its value chain, and will be fulfilled through Vedanta Aluminium’s mega smelter situated in Jharsuguda, Odisha.

Vedanta Aluminium is demonstrably the first in India to offer low-carbon aluminium, branded Restora and Restora Ultra (ultra-low carbon aluminium), to a global customer base, many of whom are increasingly focused on ensuring the sustainable provenance of their materials and actively decarbonising their value chains. Manufactured using renewable energy, Restora is produced with a greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity within 4 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per tonne of aluminium manufactured, which is the global threshold for aluminium to be considered as having a low-carbon footprint. Restora Ultra, made with aluminium recovered from dross (a by-product of aluminium smelting), has an even lower carbon footprint that is near zero and is amongst the lowest in the world.

Vedanta Aluminium Dispatches First Supply of India’s 1st Ever Low-Carbon Green Aluminium To Telangana's Global Aluminium

The supply agreement will see Global Aluminium deploying Restora Billets supplied by Vedanta Aluminium in various extrusion profiles, undergoing in-house value addition including anodizing processes, aluminium powder coating processes, and precision machining facilities. The end products will cater to customized applications across a wide range of industries, including Automotive, Electrical & Electronics, Building, Construction & Architectural, Aeronautics, Air handling, Renewable industry, Defense, Automation, and more.

Sharing his views, Mr. John Slaven, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium said, “At Vedanta Aluminium, we are committed to providing our customers with an unmatched competitive advantage through sustainably produced products, while also continuously decarbonising our operations as well. Beacon of Cybersecurity in Telangana – The State Police Launch India’s 1st Law Enforcement CISO Council

Telangana Police launched India’s First Law Enforcement CISO Council.

It is termed as a Beacon of Cybersecurity in Telangana

DGP Anjani Kumar, Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan unveiled amidst the presence of Commissioner of Cyberabad, Stephen Raveendra; SCSC Secretary Ramesh Kaza and Industry stalwarts

Telangana Police with support from Industry and Academia launched the Law Enforcement CISO (Chief Information Security Officers) Council, a first-of-its-kind initiative in India.

DGP of Telangana State Anjani Kumar, Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan unveiled it amidst the presence of Commissioner of Cyberabad, Stephen Raveendra; SCSC Secretary Ramesh Kaza and Industry stalwarts in a function held at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Saturday late evening.

Addressing the gathering immediately after the launch, the Director General of Police, Govt of Telangana, Anjani Kumar said those who handle the subject take it casually. It is not just the case of Police but in every other profession as well. He narrated an example of a colleague who upon returning from a Seminar on Cyber Security, sought his help as he fell victim to a cyber fraud and lost INR 5 lakh. The senior police officer also cited another example of how 20,000 women died in a country over a period of 20 years due to the unmindful and casualness of doctors. They found that too after 20 years, a simple cause for the death of so many mothers. The same doctors who performed postmortems also performed deliveries and used the same contaminated tools. With these two examples, Anjani Kumar made a point that it doesn’t matter how big an expert you are but your casual approach may lead to trouble.

Speaking further he said, Telangana is called bright star in the country. It is a home to implement many firsts in the country. And CISO Council is one such example.

Cyberabad Police created a history of sorts by getting Rs 2.2 crore returned to the cyber fraud victims. The police have successfully managed to pass through all hurdles and get the lost money back fast. He appreciated the Cyberabad Police for this achievement. They must develop SOP(Standard Operating Protocols) to help others, replicate it and successfully navigate the journey.

DGP Anjani Kumar talked about two bright starts in the hall and one of them was Stephen Raveendra. The DGP appreciated him for the remarkable work done and for setting up an example in managing to bring syphoned money back in cyber fraud case. Another star he mentioned was Jayesh Ranjan. Speaking about him, Anjani Kumar said, Jayesh Rajan upgrades himself (in terms of updating developments in his domain of specialization) faster than Apple upgrades its different series of phones.

Telangana has managed to stand where it is because of collective efforts. There are many Industry professionals who possess domain knowledge more than police, he added

Definition of the crime is changing fast. There is no jurisdiction in cybercrimes. This now poses a lot of challenges for police.

Anjani Kumar expressed his concern at the rate at which cybercrimes are on the rise. As my earlier speaker pointed out, $8 trillion will be lost to cybercrimes by the end of 2023, which is almost a third of the USA's GDP in 2022 and twice as much as India's predicted GDP in this year, he said.

Jayesh Ranjan
Jayesh Ranjan said India’s First Law Enforcement CISO Council is a beacon of Cyber Security in Telangana. The initiative is the best example of the PPP model, that we often keep talking about. Cyber Security breaches are multiplying and will grow by leaps and bounds when the next billion internet users start going digital. The enterprises are also going to be at risk.

He gave an example of his meeting Ajay Banga formerly with Master Cards, who upon asked by him in a meeting in New York some time ago on a visit to the USA said, that the company was subjected to 10,000 cyber-attacks on a good day and the number would go to 30,000 on a bad day. Individuals or enterprises, no one is an exception to cyber threats and frauds, he added.

The good thing about the new initiative Rajan said was to share intelligence. If you become a victim of cyber fraud and suffer, you must see that the other 20 are saved from falling prey to such attacks. But in reality, that is not happening.

Jayesh Ranjan offered a few suggestions. He asked the team of the CISO council to work with the IT Department of Telangana and a few centers of excellence in the state such as SOC—Security Operations Center; Cyber Security Center of Excellence, Data Security Council of India and the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT). Also, he asked them to work with startups as they are known for innovative and agile thinking and tools development; and ethical hackers. He also told them to take the help of the IT Department of Telangana to forge international associations.

Giving his opening remarks Stephen Raveendra, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad said with a 300% surge in cyber incidents over the past year, we need to defend our digital space, Government organizations, Critical Infrastructure, and Industry including vulnerable MSMEs which are repeatedly besieged by threats and are ill-equipped to handle compared to their larger multinational counterparts. The recent targeted attacks on Govt and Critical infrastructure institutions during the G20 event in Delhi highlight the imminent need to institutionalize the fight against cyber threats.

Every Cyber Security breach has an element of Criminality in it and every Cyber attack has an element of cybercrime in it. Law Enforcement CISO Council is the way forward.

What does this means is Reduced Attack Surface, Enhanced Resilience, Real-time Threat Intelligence, Legal and Regulatory Guidance, Opportunities for Public-Private Partnerships and, A Platform for Networking and Learning among several other outcomes, he added.

Ramesh Kaza, Secretary of SCSC said human-updated ransomware attacks are up more than 200%. There is a notable increase in the number of password-based attacks, the numbers skyrocketed in 2023 with a ten fold increase. In the year 2023, approximately 1,56,000 daily BEC (Business Email Compromise) attempts were observed. Attacks targeting open-source software have grown on average 742%. Gartner Analysts predicted that over the next two years, 45% of global organizations will be impacted by a supply chain attack. 57% of IoT/OT devices are on legacy firmware which is exploitable

A couple of CISO industry stalwarts Sindhu Sridhar, and Suvabratha Sinha also spoke on the occasion.

Abhishek Kumar, Director of Governance, Principal Group Manager, Microsoft said that they would bring the full force and were happy to contribute to enabling the collective experience of decades.

Ramesh Ganesh, Director of Technical of CoE and CyberEye said that the team would work on how to contain, reduce and mitigate Cyber Attacks.

Several industry stalwarts and corporate executives, CISOs attended the launch.

We Respect India's Efforts in Space Science: Ambassador of Costa Rica to India, Dr Claudio Ansorena Montero

Costa Rica is the only country in the world to abolish the Army as a permanent institution: Ambassador

India's exports to Costa Rica are worth around $ 200 million: Meela Jayadev, President of FTCCI

The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) organised an interactive session with trade representatives of both countries on Monday late evening with Dr Claudio Ansorena Montero, Ambassador of Costa Rica to India at FTCCI at Red Hills.

We Respect India's Efforts in Space Science: Ambassador of Costa Rica to India, Dr Claudio Ansorena Montero
AVPS CHAKRAVARTHI, DR CLAUDIO ANSORENA MONTERO, Ambassador and MEELA JAYADEV

Speaking on the occasion the envoy said Costa Rica is a small country compared to India. But we have shared values in areas such as Democracy, Peace and Sustainability.

Yours is the world's largest democracy. Costa Rica is one of the world's oldest democracies, thus, its parliamentary history dates back several centuries, he said.

You are a peace-loving country. Mahatma Gandhi is your Bapu (Father of the Nation). We too have our own Gandhi. You proved to the world that you can achieve anything through peace. Costa Rica abolished its army as a permanent institution, making Costa Rica one of the first countries in the world to do so, he shared. We could afford to do so. You are a big country and this may not be possible.

Another area where there is a commonality between the two nations is Sustainability. 99% of our energy comes from renewable sources. Our forest cover which was just 25% in the year 1980 is now 54%. The Ambassador added that they own six per cent of Biodiversity in the world.

Speaking about India's recent success in space exploration, he said, we respect India's efforts in Space Science. The Ambassador who met Shri S. Somanath, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)/ Secretary, Department of Space at ISRO Headquarters in January this year expressed keen interest in learning from India’s rich experience in the field of space. Opportunities for collaboration at the industry level and also capacity building of officials from Costa Rica in satellite building and space technology application are plenty he said.

On the sustainability front Costa Rican company is using plastic waste to make construction blocks. We need to do some cooperation on that front he shared.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Donal Thomson, CEO of CRDC Company Costa Rica, gave a brief presentation about how they are making use of plastic waste and turning it into useful building blocks.

Introducing RESIN8, a breakthrough concrete additive made from mixed plastic waste, designed by and for the construction industry, he said the company's aim was to create value from the world's plastic waste. Only 9.5% of plastic waste worldwide is recycled (16% in the USA). The remaining 90.5% is incinerated or ends up in landfills or the ocean. More than 150 million tons of CO2 of greenhouse gases emitted per year are due to plastic incineration.

Introducing RESIN8, a breakthrough concrete additive made from mixed plastic waste he expressed his desire to collaborate with Indian companies for mutual good.

Giving his opening remarks, Mr Meela Jayadev, President of FTCCI said India's exports to Costa Rica are worth around $ 200 million. But, the imports from Costa Rica stand at around $ 40 million. Since the import volume is limited, we see a lot of untapped potential and possibilities for growth.

The two countries have signed several Bilateral trade agreements and MoUs. An important example was the India-Costa Rica Centre for Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT) in Costa Rica. India majorly exports Packaged medicaments and automobiles to Costa Rica, while it imports Rough Wood, informed AVPS Chakravarthy, Chairman of the International Trade Committee.

Several industry representatives from both countries attended the meeting.
